Dear Parish Family,
For nearly 130 years we have been blessed to celebrate our faith here at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Troy, St. Ignatius of Loyola Church in Lowell, and St. Vincent de Paul Church in North Troy. These years have seen many changes in the community and each generation has had its particular challenges. Yet, we have been blessed with a legacy of beautiful buildings and a strong foundation of faith. It is now our turn to consider the legacy we will leave to the future. This will require an effort on our part to appropriately provide for the present and future needs of our churches and parish community.
Worship always has been and will continue to be at the foundation of our plans. It must always be our highest priority, for it is through worship that we gain the strength and guidance to work toward meeting the needs of the immediate and extended world we live in. I see the fruits of that worship in our parishioners. You give your time and talents in service in so many ways, both to the parish and the greater community.
Despite this positive work, our Churches are faced with a serious financial issue we must address. Through the first 7 months this year we are experiencing a net loss at each church, collectively totaling almost $20,000.00. As a result, our parish leadership must confront these concerns by moving forward with a concerted effort to increase our Sunday offertory collection. Increasing our offertory will allow us to continue the mission of our church without operating in a deficit. I realize that much has already been asked of you. Some families and individuals are already experiencing difficult financial times. I am counting on the many, who are able, to make sacrifices and increase their weekly offering.
With that in mind, we have joined with Our Sunday Visitor in this effort to substantially increase our regular Sunday Offertory. Increasing our offertory will allow us to continue the mission of our church without continuing to operate in a deficit. Other parishes which have conducted similar programs have seen their offertory increase between 20 to 40 percent. United in Faith we hope that we will see the same benefit. Suggested guidelines are provided for your consideration. I am aware that these are challenging times financially for many of you. I ask that you pray for guidance.
Feel free to contact me directly with any questions or concerns you may have regarding this initiative. I can be reached by calling (802) 998-2608 or by email at email@example.com. I am extremely appreciative of everyone’s past generosity to the parish. I thank you in advance for your support, understanding and kindness.
